What is shotcrete?

Shotcrete is a pneumatically applied wet-mix concrete sprayed onto a rebar framework to shape the pool shell. It is highly durable, flexible for custom shapes, with excellent structural strength.

How much do shotcrete pools cost?

Expect a custom range depending on the size, shape, options, and water features. Starting at about $85K for small to mid-size, shotcrete pools will fall in to the $90K to $130K range. Large, complex projects will go up from there. Speak to your pool designer for an estimate on your project!

How long does it take to build a shotcrete pool?

A shotcrete pool typically takes 4 to 6 weeks to complete. A shotcrete pool/spa combination can be 6 to 8 weeks. Larger, complex designs may take longer.

Do shotcrete pools crack?

Minor hairline cracks occasionally occur from settling or shrinkage at the initial stage of curing, without consequence. Major structural cracking is uncommon when built correctly. A shotcrete shell is unquestionably the most durable and structurally sound type of pool.

Does your crew work everyday from start to finish when building a shotcrete pool?

While it is our goal to keep the job moving for an efficient project, there are necessary pauses throughout the process. Weather almost always is a factor, especially in the Spring. The nature of a shotcrete project is that the first major steps go rather quickly. Activity slows while plumbing, tile, coping, and equipment installation take place. Once these steps are complete, the deck contractor’s work must be completed. Interior finish application is the final step in the pool building process for shotcrete pools.

Will the finish be rough and hurt our feet or snag swimsuits?

We are an Authorized PebbleTec Pool Finishes Builder. We install the PebbleSheen product that features a blend of slightly smaller pebbles for a more refined and smooth texture.

How often will I have to have the pool resurfaced?

PebbleTec interior finishes combine premium stone with fade-resistant pigments and strengthening agents making it highly durable. Proper care in water balancing results in a continual smooth finish that will last for 10-20+ years.

Do tanning ledges take up too much pool space?

Tanning ledges, also known as play ledges, are the premium real estate in a pool! People love to relax and congregate at the shallow end where the ledge and steps are located. Think of your favorite vacation spot when lounged all day in the shallow, cooling ledge, with your friends and family.

How deep should my pool be?

Most pools are 3’ to 5’ deep. The flexibility of shotcrete is that we can custom shape your pool’s depth profile to your exact needs. A pool with a diving board must have an 8’ deep end to accommodate safety requirements.

Is it true I must spend hours per week maintaining my pool?

It is beneficial to brush your new pool’s finish often in the first thirty days for best results. Otherwise, maintaining a shotcrete pool is straightforward and simple. Regular water testing and balancing, filtration, heater, and pump maintenance are a part of pool ownership.

What is your warranty?

Workmanship and structural warranty is 1-Year. Pool equipment is 3-Years. Warranty information will be provided specific to your pool’s finish and mechanical options.

How is a shotcrete pool built?

Construction begins with laying out the pool design on site.

Excavation forms the shape of the structure. Steel reinforcement is installed to create the internal framework. Plumbing lines and fittings are positioned before the shotcrete is applied.

Shotcrete is then sprayed over the steel grid and shaped into the final structure. After curing, tile and coping are installed, equipment is connected, and the interior finish is applied.
