Shotcrete Pool

Custom Shotcrete Pools

Shotcrete construction is often chosen for custom inground swimming pools for complete design flexibility. The reinforced concrete structure is formed directly on site, specifically to the custom design of any shape, size, and depth profile.

For homeowners seeking a pool designed around their backyard layout, shotcrete construction allows the design to adapt to the space.

Why Homeowners Choose Shotcrete

Shotcrete is different from other pool construction methods because the concrete is applied pneumatically, or sprayed under high pressure, onto a reinforced steel framework. This process creates a strong, continuous concrete structure that can be formed into virtually any shape or design.

  1. Designed Around Your Vision
Shotcrete construction allows designers to create pools that respond directly to the homeowner’s desired shape and features.

  2. High-End Finish Options
Curves, geometric layouts, integrated spas, tanning ledges, and custom depths can all be incorporated into the design.

  3. Build to Match Your Home
This flexibility makes shotcrete ideal when the goal is to align the pool with the architecture of the home and the surrounding outdoor layout.

Shotcrete Pool FAQs

Common questions about concrete pools, construction timelines, and design options are answered here.
How is a shotcrete pool built?

Construction begins with laying out the pool design on site.

Excavation forms the shape of the structure. Steel reinforcement is installed to create the internal framework. Plumbing lines and fittings are positioned before the shotcrete is applied.

Shotcrete is then sprayed over the steel grid and shaped into the final structure. After curing, tile and coping are installed, equipment is connected, and the interior finish is applied.

What is your warranty?

Workmanship and structural warranty is 1-Year. Pool equipment is 3-Years. Warranty information will be provided specific to your pool’s finish and mechanical options.

Is it true I must spend hours per week maintaining my pool?

It is beneficial to brush your new pool’s finish often in the first thirty days for best results. Otherwise, maintaining a shotcrete pool is straightforward and simple. Regular water testing and balancing, filtration, heater, and pump maintenance are a part of pool ownership.

How deep should my pool be?

Most pools are 3’ to 5’ deep. The flexibility of shotcrete is that we can custom shape your pool’s depth profile to your exact needs. A pool with a diving board must have an 8’ deep end to accommodate safety requirements.

Do tanning ledges take up too much pool space?

Tanning ledges, also known as play ledges, are the premium real estate in a pool! People love to relax and congregate at the shallow end where the ledge and steps are located. Think of your favorite vacation spot when lounged all day in the shallow, cooling ledge, with your friends and family.

How often will I have to have the pool resurfaced?

PebbleTec interior finishes combine premium stone with fade-resistant pigments and strengthening agents making it highly durable. Proper care in water balancing results in a continual smooth finish that will last for 10-20+ years.

Will the finish be rough and hurt our feet or snag swimsuits?

We are an Authorized PebbleTec Pool Finishes Builder. We install the PebbleSheen product that features a blend of slightly smaller pebbles for a more refined and smooth texture.

Does your crew work everyday from start to finish when building a shotcrete pool?

While it is our goal to keep the job moving for an efficient project, there are necessary pauses throughout the process. Weather almost always is a factor, especially in the Spring. The nature of a shotcrete project is that the first major steps go rather quickly. Activity slows while plumbing, tile, coping, and equipment installation take place. Once these steps are complete, the deck contractor’s work must be completed. Interior finish application is the final step in the pool building process for shotcrete pools.

Do shotcrete pools crack?

Minor hairline cracks occasionally occur from settling or shrinkage at the initial stage of curing, without consequence. Major structural cracking is uncommon when built correctly. A shotcrete shell is unquestionably the most durable and structurally sound type of pool.

How long does it take to build a shotcrete pool?

A shotcrete pool typically takes 4 to 6 weeks to complete. A shotcrete pool/spa combination can be 6 to 8 weeks. Larger, complex designs may take longer.
